For groups wanting an evening talk, the Conference Presentation allows for the battle to be told whilst relaxing and enjoying sundowners at the location right where the events took place.
From the conference facility overlooking the veranda at McPherson’s Restaurant in Flamingo Vlei near Rietvlei, Dave will give a visual presentation of the events leading up to the British Invasion and the defense of the Cape by the Batavians, all while admiring the beautiful sunset and imagining the troops massing under the backdrop of Table Mountain.
The battle is portrayed using pictures and maps to give a feeling of the events of January 1806.
McPhersons Restaurant is located close to the encampments of both the Batavian and British forces before and after the battle and makes for the ideal position to understand the events before and after the 8th January 1806.
