Cape Girdled Lizard seen on top of Blaauwberg Hill

For the naturalists who do not want to do the Battlefield Tour an option for experiencing the natural wonders of Blaauwberg Nature Reserve are on offer.
BBNR comprises of 3 destinct biomes and is home to many natural species of animals including Eland, Red Hartsebeest, Steenbok, Cape Grysbok, Caracal, Tortoises and many plants, insects and reptiles.
BBNR is working on an extensive project to eradicate the invasive Port Jackson, (Acacia saligna) and close inspection of the work involved is possible on this walk.
On Blaauwberg Hill there is the possibility of seeing the Cape Girdled Lizard as well as the Parrot-beaked tortoise and the hill is host to the rare Bloubergstrand Dwarf Burrowing Skink (Scelotes montispectus).

Total Distance 10kms depending on preference.
